Good morning, everyone! It is my privilege to demonstrate/ present my interpretation regarding Victor Hugo’s quote, “Perseverance, secret of all triumphs,” which functions as a reminder that genuine success can be secured by those who display unwavering persistence in the face of adversity.

Yuan Longping, renowned as the “Father of Hybrid Rice”, perfectly exemplifies perseverance in pursuing his ambition to eradicate/ eliminate/ banish/ remove starvation/ famine. Given the widespread food insecurity/ scarcity, the past decades witnessed Yuan and his colleagues devoting tremendous efforts to pioneering the development of productive grain. Throughout the process, their resilience and determination enabled them to conquer diverse obstacles, such as scepticism from the scientific community, insufficient financial support, and hostile research environment. Thankfully, their epic struggle yielded/ delivered hybrid rice, which bore testimony/ served as a testament to what consistent tenacity could attain.

During our quest for triumphs, so unpredictable are challenges that what individuals can do is maintain unyielding/ unremitting perseverance despite setbacks. Only when we put Hugo’s words into practice can our accomplishment be guaranteed/ ensured.
